INTRODUCTION

Climate change is on the rise specifically in terms of the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events such as droughts and floods, aggravating water management problems, reducing agricultural production and food security, increasing health risks, damaging critical infrastructure and interrupting the provision of basic services such water and sanitation, education, energy and transport. Various governments across the Africa continent, Non-government Organizations and communities have been implementing various strategies to cope with risks resulting from climate change. Some of these technologies include water harvesting technologies. However, some of these technologies are expensive for rural communities. Rural population requires low cost systems that can be constructed, operated and maintained. This 5 day course will equip participants with knowledge and skills on simple, cost effective, efficient, effective and easy to replicate rain water harvesting technologies.
