Introduction

This 5 day short course will introduce participants to the SQL language. Participants will learn the key concepts of Structured Query Language (SQL), and gain a solid working knowledge of this powerful and universal database programming language.  It teaches how to read and write good SQL for querying, updating and maintaining SQL databases. The course progresses through the elements of the language to build a thorough appreciation and understanding of SQL’s capabilities using ANSI-standard SQL and some of the common extensions.

SQL will be used to create, populate and manipulate databases within a client-server database system, as well as to retrieve data in a variety of ways. Participants will learn about the basic structure of relational databases and how to read and write simple and complex SQL statements and advanced data manipulation techniques.
